ಉತ್ತರ ಚೈನಾದ ಮಹಾಮಾರ್ಗಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಓಡಾಡುವ ಟ್ರಕ್ಕುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ
ದಕ್ಷಿಣದ ಗ್ವಾಂಗ್ ಷೌ ಪ್ರಾಂತಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಗಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತವೆ -
ಹುನಾನ್ ಪ್ರಾಂತದಿಂದ ಬಂದ ಕೋಳಿ,
ಜಿಯಾಂಗ್ ಷಿಯಿಂದ ಬಂದ ದನಗಳು,
ಮತ್ತು ಸಿಚುಆನ್ ಪ್ರಾಂತದಿಂದ ಬಂದ ಹಂದಿಗಳನ್ನು.
ಅಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಪರ್ಲ್ ನದಿಯ ತಟವು
ತಳವಿರದ ಪೀಪಾಯಿಯಂತೆ
ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಇಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಬಂದ ಪ್ರಾಣಿಗಳನ್ನು
ನುಂಗಿಬಿಡುತ್ತದೆ ಒಂದೇ ತುತ್ತಿಗೆ.
ಬಾಯಿ ಮುಚ್ಚದೇ.
ಮಹಾಮಾರ್ಗಗಳನ್ನೇ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೊಟ್ಟೆ.
ಗೊತ್ತಿರುವುದೇ ಒಂದು ಅದಕ್ಕೆ,
ನುಂಗು, ನುಂಗು, ನುಂಗು.
ದಟ್ಟ ಹೊಗೆಯ ಹೊದ್ದಿಕೆಯ ಹಿಂದೆ
ನಾವು ಜೀರ್ಣಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೇವೆ

ಆಗ ನಾವು ಕೊಲ್ಲೋಣ ಕಾರುಗಳನ್ನು,
ಏಡಿ ಮೀನುಗಳಂತೆ ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಗಟ್ಟಿಯಾಗಿ ಹಿಡಿದು,
ಅದರ ಬೆಂಬದಿಯ ಚಿಪ್ಪನ್ನು ಕಿತ್ತು
ಹೀರೋಣ ಒಳಗಿರುವ ಘೃತವನ್ನು.
ENORMOUS APPETITE
